The Ford scholarship is a program that offers its recipients both financial and program resources. This scholarship is taken to several locations, some of which are; Oregon, Siskiyou County, Calif, and some other lucky regions. 

Many people that have benefited from the scholarship have confirmed that the scholarship is about “so much more than the money.” 

The Ford Foundation scholarship selection committee endeavors to choose participants whose records and future potential require exceptional support not just to provide only financial support but so much more. 

The Ford foundation scholarship offers five different scholarships, which are;

1.Ford scholars program

This scholarship is a legacy from Kenneth W. Ford, the founder of the Ford Foundation. His objective for creating this scholarship is to help students who struggle or do not get a college degree. 

The Ford Foundation was created generally for so many good projects, and the Ford scholars program is one of them; it’s one of Kenneth’s favorite projects.

Annually, about 130 renewable scholarships are given to students from Oregon and Siskiyou County, Calif.

 

Ford Scholars Program Scholarship amount

The scholarship will settle 90% of the unpaid college costs such as tuition fees, room, board, personal expenses, book costs, etc. 

You are qualified for the Ford scholars program if;

  • You are living in Oregon or Siskiyou County, Calif.
  • You have graduated high school (equivalent) and have never registered in or enrolled into a two or 4yrs full-time college and are seeking a Bachelor’s Degree. 
  • You are a student who plans to register in and enroll in a full time in the fall in the state where you (Oregon or Siskiyou) 
  • You Will achieve a GPA of 3.0 or a GED of 660
  • You will attend full-time on campus in a federal eligible private or public college in their place of residence.

 

Basic information about the scholarship 

  • Renders significant help to students who have financial struggles in going to college. 
  • Apart from substantial financial awards, the participant still gets academic guidance, leadership teaching, personal and emotional development, professional support, and access to the Ford alumni network.
  • The scholarship can be renewed for about four years of undergraduate study.

 

Selection criteria

If you advance in the selection process, you will be invited to a one-on-one interview. Ford scholars award is for students who;

  1. Has leadership ability in school, home, and community service.
  2. She is creative, responsible, and has excellent work ethics, whether paid or unpaid.
  3. Has excellent character.
  4. Has great techniques of communicating their thoughts and views both in writing and verbally.
  5. Has great motivation towards academics which can be seen through the GPA or recommendations.

  1. Ford transfer scholars program 

This program is a critical scholarship for community college students under the age of 25, performing excellently, and is planning to transfer to a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year institution.

 

About 25 scholarships are awarded annually to students living in Oregon and Siskiyou County, Calif.

 

Scholarship amount

The scholarship will settle 90% of the unpaid college cost. It is calculated on the school’s cost of attendance, excluding other grants and scholarships.

 

You are qualified for the Ford transfer scholars program if;

  • You live in Oregon or Siskiyou County, Calif.
  • You are a student below the age of 25 as of March 1st of the application year.
  • You are a present community college student, or you are a fresh graduate of a community college in Oregon or Calif.
  • You are a student who is still hoping to get a bachelor’s degree but hasn’t gotten one.
  • You are a student who is ready to enroll full-time on campus.
  • You achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or a GED of 660

 

Selection criteria

If you advance in the selection process, you will be invited for one on one interview. Ford transfer scholars committee are looking for students who;

  1. Have outstanding academic ability at the Community College level, as shown by the GPA and strong recommendation. 
  2. Has a visionary academic plan coupled with long-term goals? 
  3. Has good character 
  4. Can communicate ideas verbally and in writing. 
  5. Great work ethic.

3.Ford opportunity program 

Hallie E. Ford established the ford opportunity program to assist single parents in getting a degree. As a female, she understands that parents who are still schooling have loads of responsibilities.

 

About 50 scholarships are given out annually to students residing in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California.

 

Scholarship amount 

The scholarship will settle 90% of the unpaid college cost. It is calculated on the school’s cost of attendance, excluding other grants and scholarships.

 

You are eligible for the Ford opportunity program if;

  • You are residing in Oregon or Siskiyou County, Calif.
  • You are a single parent with children indicated as ” head of household” on your form and defined by the IRS.
  • You have a high school diploma or GED.
  • You are seeking a bachelor’s degree.
  • It only remains one year for you to complete your degree program.
  • You are ready to enroll full-time in the state where you reside.

 

Selection criteria

If you progress in the selection process, you will be invited to a physical interview. However, you will need to provide a timely education plan and documentation confirming you as head of the household before scheduling the consultation.

You can emerge as one of the winners of the scholarship if the selection committee can confirm that:

  1. You are committed to duties in school, home, and community service.
  2. You have an outstanding character.
  3. You are willing to help others in whichever way you can.
  4. You have the ability for further academic success.
  5. You are responsible
  6. You have a great work ethic.

4.Ford ReStart program

The Ford ReStart Program is a scholarship established to help adults aged 25 and above excel in college and life generally.

This scholarship is awarded to students living in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California, and about 46 are awarded every year.

Scholarship amount

The scholarship will settle 90% of the unpaid college cost. It is calculated on the school’s cost of attendance, excluding other grants and scholarships.

Eligibility

You are eligible for the Ford Restart program if:

  • You reside in Oregon or Siskiyou County, Calif.
  • You are 25 years or older with some employment experience.
  • You are very near to concluding your degree program.
  • You are seeking a bachelor’s or associate degree, and you have never gotten one.
  • You are ready to enroll full-time on campus.

Selection criteria

If you progress in the selection process, you will have to provide a solid education plan; then, you will be scheduled for a one-on-one interview.

Selection Committee is looking out for students who;

  2. are responsible and have great work ethics

5.Ford sons and daughters

Kenneth Ford established Ford sons and daughters to encourage the sons and daughters of Roseburg Forest Product Co. to attend college and fully develop their potentials.

The number of scholarships awarded varies annually, and it is renewable annually if you make outstanding academic progress.

 Scholarship amount

The amount varies based on the college program of the participants. Beneficiaries typically get $3000 every academic year for those enrolled in a 2-years college and  $5000 every academic year for those enrolled in a 4-years program.

You are qualified for the Ford sons and daughters scholarship if;

  • You are a child or step-child of Roseburg forest product and Co. employees
  • You are exactly 21 years or below.
  • You want to enroll in a two or 4-years program or technical degree.

Selection criteria

You can be one of the winners of this scholarship if the selection committee confirm that;

  • You have an outstanding work ethic
  • You are initiative and creative
  • You are responsible
  • You are intelligent
  • You can communicate ideas both in writing and verbally.
